Post Subject : Solitaire Game Industry

Many variations of Solitaire card games exist today. Solitaire game packages developed by software companies and independent software vendors are available on the web in both shareware and freeware forms. When Microsoft introduced Windows Operating system, which supports more graphics and animation it helped game industry a lot. Many software vendors have created game development engines and game graphics supporting libraries. With these enhanced game and graphics tools game developers are able to create very interesting and addictive computer games.

This has boosted the solitaire card games industry too. In mid nineties solitaire card games started appearing on the web in freeware and shareware forms. But most of those game packages are with a single game with very few features. After Microsoft included Freecell and Klondike (Windows Solitaire) with its windows operating system people started spending more time with solitaire card games in front of their computers. This has changed the solitaire game market. More vendors came up with different variations of Freecell and other solitaire games. Also vendors started making solitaire card games for other operating systems like Apple Macintosh, Palm Pilot, Linux and other PDA and mobile devices. Game vendors also started exploring different types of solitaire card games like Spider Solitaire, Mahjong Solitaire, Pyramid Solitaire, Adding Type, Memory Type, Canfield and Blackjack.

Now there are 100s of solitaire card games available on the net in both free versions and shareware versions. With the help of advanced technologies and highly efficient programming languages and graphical tools vendors are able to build packages with hundreds of solitaire card games including new game variations. Some vendors have developed solitaire card game with more than 600 games. Soon it is going to reach 1000 mark. It will be a great achievement for the shareware and game industry because most of these game vendors are independent people or small ISVs. These games are not developed by big players like Sony or Microsoft like in other game segments.
